LET'S TALK ABOUT IT: We're a 2023 Glossier Grantee!

Published By: MOODEAUX

Major news update, y'all! :) Our independent, award-winning fragrance label is proud to announce we've been selected as a recipient of the 2023 Glossier Grant Program for Black-Owned Beauty BusinessesThis recognition is an honor and affirms MOODEAUX’s position as an industry disruptor, commended by Glossier for its dynamic and progressive edge, mission to encourage and celebrate self-expression and future plans for expansion.

For background, the Glossier Grant Program launched in 2020 with the purpose to level the playing field for Black beauty founders, where there’s been a lasting legacy of exclusion and barriers to fundraising, mentorship and more. The initiative aims to support and uplift emerging brands that've demonstrated a commitment to innovation and making industry waves.

MOODEAUX is officially the first beauty brand to win in the fragrance category and is recognized for its imaginative approach to fragrance, spotlighting our young label in a saturated market dominated by luxury labels. By encouraging people to use fragrance to Flaunt How You Feel® and practice self-expression through scent, we're pushing for a new industry standard with fragrances that are longer-lasting, skin-nurturing and earth-friendly.

"We're thrilled to welcome MOODEAUX into the Glossier Grantee Community," says Roya Shariat, Senior Manager of Social Impact and Brand Partnerships at Glossier. "MOODEAUX's innovative, inclusive approach to fragrance made their submission a standout in a very competitive application process. We're grateful to play a small part in this brand's incredible journey."

Our cohort also includes brands: Of Other Worlds, Flora & Noor, Mela Vitamins, Kushae and SOSS! Continue reading to learn more about each.

Of Other Worlds is a different kind of beauty brand that doesn’t make you choose between “clean” and clinical. Founder Simedar Jackson became an esthetician to join the ranks of skincare professionals making treatments safe and effective for all skin tones, body types and genders.

Founded by Jordan KarimFlora & Noor is the only halal-certified skincare brand made and based in the US. It’s an inclusive, vegan skincare brand for those who appreciate clean skincare, those needing to treat the skin concerns of melanin-rich skin, and those with chronic skin conditions starting with eczema and hyperpigmentation.

Mela Vitamins is the world’s first vitamin designed for melanated people. Melanin impacts the way bodies produce certain nutrients, which creates unique nutritional needs that other multivitamins don’t prioritize. Founder Ashley Harmon was inspired to create the brand after her own health issues led her to learn that 80% of Black Americans are Vitamin D deficient.

Founders OB/GYN Dr. Barb and ex-Pharmaceutical Sales Consultant, Kimba created Kushae with a mission to whip up effective yet gentle, pH-balanced and naturally-based feminine care products—created by women, for women.

Soss makes elevating grooming essentials for Black men. Founders Vernon Yancy and Jeremiah Regis translate love of self into uplifting and affirming grooming routines to help you embrace who you are, and welcome who you are growing to be.
