Avant-Garden: A Rose Grown off the Beaten Path
Written By: Brianna Arps
Avant-Garden, MOODEAUX’s fourth official fragrance (!!!), is a reimagining of the floral family — rooted in legacy, shaped by reinvention and designed to feel both familiar and unexpected.
I first learned to love fragrance sitting at my mom's and grandma's vanities, "borrowing" their fancy perfumes and watching scent become a ritual of care. Many of those fragrances happened to be floral. Elegant. Enduring. Avant-Garden is more than a play on words; it honors that lineage while pushing the category somewhere new.
The scent opens bright and tart, with grapefruit and rhubarb layered over davana and lavender. At the heart, rose petals turn jammy and lush, grounded by oud, timur pepper and green nuances. It then settles into a warm base of iris, vanilla and amber woods — resinous, soft and lasting. Playful yet complex, tis is floral — FLIPPED.
Avant-Garden arrives after a year marked by resilience and recalibration. It reflects a season of learning how to find beauty off the expected path — and letting growth happen in its own way...
Also! For the very first time in a MOODEAUX campaign, I stepped in front of the camera alongside my mother, honoring the generational bond that inspired this fragrance. The visuals blend intimate storytelling with surreal, 3D elements (s/o to designer Michelle Bui) to create a madcap garden where curious people and things bloom — a modern, rouge-tinted twist on Alice in Wonderland.
Stay tuned for the official drop on February 14, 2026 — In the meantime, click HERE to RSVP for our Avant-Garden Party at Tulsa Beauty Collective!
